what is radiant expressionism?

Picasso once said that all painters borrow from and are influenced by each other, and that there is no art that is completely original.  I know that I have been influenced by Monet, Van Gogh, and Susan Sarback. Monet’s use of light has inspired many painters, and Van Gogh’s style is so personal, emotional and yet skillful, that his genius cannot be missed.

My husband bought me an art book called “Capturing Radiant Color,” by Susan Sarback around 2000.  I was immediately captivated by the way she used color, and felt like I had found an artist who saw color the way I did.  This was just after I started painting, and I studied her book for a long time,  practicing using color in different ways.  My use of her technique, along with my passion for color, is why I call my work “radiant expressionism.”
