I love to paint with oils because they feel so rich, and don’t dry too quickly. I also like them because they are traditional, and remind me of the old “masters.”
Nature has so much beauty to offer, and I enjoy creating paintings that are inspired by its beauty. I believe that beauty is an expression of spirituality, and so want my paintings to be pleasing to the eye. I paint of beauty, love, joy, and peace, hoping that my paintings are a reminder of what most of us aspire to. I would like them to be uplifting, calming and inspiring those who view them.
This quote made by Henri Matisse describes my intention when I paint: “What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter – a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.”
